Stone Barn sits just outside Northleach, a Cotswold stone barn with the kind of honey-coloured walls that turn a certain shade in the last hour of daylight.

September gave the day a particular kind of light, lower and warmer than midsummer, which suited the barn's stone and timber better than a flat overhead sun would have. Late-September weddings often end up filming the last part of the reception after dark, which changes the visual texture of a film considerably from the ceremony that opened it.
I try to work the same way regardless of the couple or the venue: stay quiet, keep two cameras ready for anything that only happens once, and let the day's own rhythm decide what the film actually needs.
