Dan and I spent most of our twenties playing in a band together. For the best part of ten years we shared rehearsals, recordings, journeys and everything else that comes with trying to make music alongside your closest friends. He'd later give the best-man speech at my own wedding.
Dan and Georgina were among the first of our friendship group to get married. Their ceremony took place at St Peter's Church in Newnham-on-Severn, followed by a marquee reception on Georgina's family land in Awre.
I was there as one of Dan's groomsmen as well as the person making their wedding film, which made the day especially personal. I needed to be present as his friend while still recognising the moments they'd want to come back to years later.
There was something particularly meaningful about being able to contribute a film to the wedding of somebody I'd already shared such a large part of my life with. Working in a temporary marquee setting still means treating the space with the same attention as a permanent venue: reading where the light will fall through the day, and knowing early where people are likely to gather so the camera can already be there.
